Andrew “Andy” Imparato has served as the Executive Director of Disability Rights California (DRC) since February 2020, following a 26-year career in national disability policy and advocacy in Washington, DC. Nationally, Imparato served on President Biden’s COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force, helped negotiate the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and contributed to disability provisions in the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. His leadership roles include Disability Policy Director for U.S. Senator Tom Harkin, CEO of the American Association of People with Disabilities, and Executive Director of the Association of University Centers on Disabilities.
He currently chairs the Centene National Disability Advisory Council, serves on the board of Fountain House, and advises the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Health Policy Research Scholars. Imparato is a graduate of Yale College and Stanford Law School and draws on his lived experience with bipolar disorder to mentor emerging leaders and advocate on social media. He lives in Sacramento with his wife and has two adult sons.
